Alec's Christmas letter;
If I remember correctly, my dog's litter was born on Christmas Eve. Reflecting on her birthday reminded me to send you a note on her progress. Our duck season started about a month ago and Jasmine's training and breeding is really starting to show. As of last Saturday she has retrieved several ducks and geese before her first birthday. She is small (about 55 lbs) but can handle a large Canada with ease. Jasmine currently handles multiple marks, will take a line up to 150 yards and is 100% on the whistle and 50% on hand signals, all before her first Birthday!

Julie, I could not ask for more.

"Emma"
Less than a year old.
Here are the pictures of the very first Ducks that Emma Retrieved. She didn't see them drop because we where in heavy cover, but all it took was me taking her to the water and throwing one rock, and she was off like a bolt of lighting... A little reference to High Voltage! Swam right to the duck grabbed it and came right back. The other one was in some reeds. but with one throw of a rock, and a good noise she went in and pulled out a beautiful Green head. She did AWESOME!!! I expect her only to get better, with time.

Thanks Julie,
Charlie

High Voltage Shocking Sheila JH, SH
Born and bred with us. Sheila showed huge talent at an early age in doing double marked retrieves at 7 weeks old and triples by 9 weeks. It was a lot of fun to show off with her. At only 9 months she recovered 5 cripple ducks her first time out hunting. At her first Junior test I discovered she would dive and swim under water to retrieve a bird (she got a 10 for persiverance - the highest score you can obtain). The first and only hunters stake I ran her in she won. She placed or won every puppy stake I ran her in running against puppies from the top studs in the country owned by field trial people. Sheila is a rocket in the pheasant field. Sheila has made me proud many times over. Her litter mate sister was qualified all age and a master hunter by 2 years old.

Charms first hunt with her new hunting companion Andy
I took her to the game farm today. I think your last words to me were- "She will make you proud". Well she did. Charms had some terrific points. We had 3 English Setters and two chocolate Labs. Charms out performed them all. She found most of the birds. We stopped hunting for the day, and put our guns away. Well, she wasn't done. She walked about 30 yards from the truck. All of a sudden I saw her go on point. No one had a gun, so I just walked over to see what was up. A rooster jumped up right in front of me. It may be one of the most enjoyable hunts I have ever had -  I was extremely proud of Charms.

This is part of a recent letter Andy sent me.
We did a lot of hunting over the last few weeks. I took a friend out hunting two weekends ago, he was so impressed with Charms he invited me on a 2 day hunt in Western Iowa with guys I've never hunted with before. It was cool watching her work. Towards the end of the day, everyone wanted Charms in front of them. That night at the bar, the guys that I hunted with were telling everyone about Charms.

Take care,
Andy
Charms was love, trained, and hunted by my husband and myself and sold as a more than started dog at 2 years old and about 70 lb's with two seasons of hunting pheasant in the Dakota's. She really knew her job and she is very much missed by us.

And no Charms eyes are not yellow as they appear in the picture. They are a beautiful chestunt color.

We retained Amber for ourselves from the 2003 litter. High Voltage Amber Fire at 8 months old.
Amber is owned by my daughter Jennifer. Amber is highly intelligent, animated, birdy, just about everything I want to see and then some. She is currently learning agility and it looks like she will give the border collies a run for their money. In obedience class she is tops. Nothing frightens this girl and she meets every challenge with gusto! She is fun, fun, fun! I didn't have time to train this winter so I sent her with a trainer down south. He said Amber neve misses a mark and is rock solid steady and heels nicely to the line.

Amber is a full sister to Jasmine, Chase, Emma, Julie, Drake, Turk, & Mocha, 3/4 brother to Charms.

Drake on point
Drake on point
I am overwhelmed at how well Drake is doing. Drake pointed and held until released for all 12 pheasants on Sunday. He retrieved them all back to me including a cripple that was 200 yards out. He saved auite a walk! He breaks when the bird flushes, but I will have to do some polishing on that. He has exceeded my expectations. My clients asked me who trained him, and I replied "Mother Nature with minimal help from me!"

The last weekent of duck season when the teal were flying in groups of 15 or so, I shot two doubles and didn't see the first birds fall. Drake did, and even tracked down a cripple which swam under water to the dike, went over and was swimming on the other side. Drake didn't see any of this as he was retrieving the first and I didn't see the duck after it went under water. Drake picked up the scent and sent off beyond visual and came back with it in his mouth.

He has so much natural instinct in him it's scary. It's really fun to watch him work.

Charms

Charms was returned by her novice owners because she was too busy. I told them she would grow out of it and she has since then.  I got her back at the age of 10 months and three weeks later I was hunting over her and I hunted over her for a year. She became my husbands favorite and made 2 trips to the Dakota's hunting pheasant. She was incredible! See what her new owner had to say about her. I almost backed out of the sale but she now has such and wonderful home I am glad I let her go. Thanks Andy.

I was and am so very proud of her.
